Terrace Room & Verandah
Our most intimate engagement party space, the Terrace Room and Verandah is ideal for smaller sit-down dinners and moderate-sized cocktail parties. It offers a beautiful 1920s style room, with wide French doors and plenty of natural light, as well as an outdoor verandah space to make the most of the sunshine and fresh air.

Private Bar & Balcony
Soak in traditional elegance in this large dining area with its own private bar and balcony space. This engagement party venue is ideal for larger parties, and the indoor space with outdoor flow makes it perfect for a celebration at any time of year.

Heritage Terrace Room

Event FAQ's
Do we have to book for a sit-down meal for an engagement party?
The Greengate Hotel offers options for both sit-down meals and cocktail receptions. That means you can opt for a more casual standing event in any of our event venue spaces if you prefer not to have a seated dinner.
Is there an option for an outdoor engagement party?
Yes! The Atrium is a covered outdoor space that offers fresh air on our rooftop terrace. The sides can be rolled down or up depending on the weather and your preferences, ensuring your guests stay warm on cool days, and enjoy the sunshine on warmer days.
Can I bring my own decorations to The Greengate Hotel?
Yes! You can bring certain decorations for your engagement party, however we do not allow confetti in any of our spaces, and no items are to be attached to the walls (no pinning or Blu Tack etc). There will be a cleaning fee applied for any failure to meet these guidelines.
How many people can I bring to my engagement party?
We offer space for as much as 220 people when you combine the Heritage Terrace Room and The Atrium for a cocktail-style event. For a seated meal, these spaces can host up to 120 people altogether.
We also offer smaller spaces for more intimate gatherings for your engagement party.
Do you offer beverage packages?
Yes, we have multiple options for beverage packages for your Sydney engagement party, so you can celebrate with your nearest and dearest in style. These include both standard and premium packages, as well as a non-alcoholic package, all of which can be set for two or three hours.
When do you need final guest numbers?
We require final confirmation of guests and any other details seven days prior to the event. This allows us to adequately order food and drinks for your group and roster staff for the event to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Are the engagement venues at The Greengate Hotel accessible?
The Private Bar, Heritage Terrace Room & Atrium are only accessible via stairs. The Terrace Room & Verandah is the only venue that is accessible without stairs.
How can my guests get to The Greengate Hotel?
Guests can take the T1 and get off at Killara, which is about 13 minutes’ walk from The Greengate Hotel. There is no set parking on site, but there are spaces on the surrounding streets, and free parking after 6pm at Killara Station.
